Party too hard? Restless night’s sleep? Dark circles haunting you and it’s not even Halloween yet? As stubborn as those dark circles can be and although some life events are out of your control – I have a great product that can help decrease the darkness under one’s eye.
Bobbi Brown Corrector is absolutely amazing. If you don’t believe me – apply the corrector to your left eye and leave the right to see the total difference it makes. Even if you don’t have really dark circles, this product is also great for extra coverage.
How to Apply?
Make sure each evening when you wash your face that you use eye make-up remover first. Leaving your eye make-up on can stain the undereye and make the under eye even darker.
Make-up should be fun, light & fresh. It's easy for it to make you look older. Make sure you choose the right colours for your skin as this can also make you look older.
At department stores not all the artists that assit you with choosing colours will be certified make-up artists so use your judgement and make sure you are getting the right products for you.

Thursday, October 7, 2010 at 4:51PM I am pleased to share with you a blog written by make-up guru Sara Burke. Sara has a wealth of knowledge with regards to how to wear make-up, what looks great on each individual, & important products that one should have! This particular post is about the "must-have" items. Listen up - she knows her cosmetics!
Women are often confused and overwhelmed with make-up and beauty products, and who can blame them? With everything on the market, it’s a daunting task to try and create the essential beauty kit between the price points, the sales pressures and the desire to look your best. How do you know what you really need? Let me help by providing my “must-have” list, in no particular order.
Foundation
The most important thing to make you look fresh is your overall complexion. Women are constantly dreaming of having even and glowing red carpet skin, so the most important thing is a great foundation. After searching high and low for one that provides coverage without looking cakey, my favourite is the Bare Escentuals bareMinerals Foundation line. It provides great coverage while it provides you with a “naked” look, and most importantly, contains SPF 15. It comes in a great Starter Package that is great for first-timers, and will get you hooked within a week. Although it’s applied with a kabuki brush which is not the traditional style for foundation application, but give it a try and you’ll be hooked.
Mascara
Although diamonds are one of my favourite things, mascara really is a girl’s best friend. If you’re running short on time and want to look like you put some effort in, mascara will open up your eyes, brighten your face and take only 5 minutes. My favourite mascara is DiorShow Waterproof, which is used backstage at a ton of fashion shows, and gives amazing results when paired with an eyelash curler. Make sure that you replace your mascara every 3-4 months to ensure maximum results (these products get clumpy, and no one likes spider lashes!), and good hygiene.
Eyeliner
Finding a good eyeliner is like mission, and after a decade of searching I’m so happy that I stumbled upon Urban Decay’s 24/7 Glide-On Eye Pencil. It’s a 24 hour, waterproof eyeliner that does not, and I seriously mean does NOT, smudge. It’s available in a variety of eye-opening colours, but really a matte black eyeliner is a total necessity for every woman. Be careful when you apply, as too much can make you look unkempt.
Lip Gloss
Cosmetic companies have finally realized that we want coloured lip gloss, not sheer gloss and not lipstick. Finding your favourite shade can take some time, but I find that MAC Lipgelee is a great product for adding colour and sheen. It’s the simplest thing to add a splash of colour and tie your entire look together, and available in a range of colours so you’ll be sure to find one that works for you. Don’t be afraid of trying different shades and sampling (with a Q-tip!), as sometimes the shades look different when they’re on your lips and blended with your natural lip pigments. This product isn’t sticky either, so you won’t feel like you’re applying pink glue to your lips.
Blush (and Brush)
Your blush should be subtle (no one likes looking like a clown), and simply be a few shades brighter than your skintone. For younger women, getting a blush with some sheer shimmer is a great way to brighten your face and add dimension when you’re in the light. Although blush is one of the trickiest products to apply, a good blush brush will guide you through it. I recommend NARS blush (especially in “Orgasm” – there’s a reason everyone raves about it) as they provide great colour with long-lasting effects. When applying, remember that less is more.
Between your career, your social life, and your hobbies, it’s always difficult to try and find the time to research beauty products before you buy them. I’ve been searching for these wonderful products for years, and would invite you to love them with me.
