{Monochromatic} Jack White

Last night I went to see Jack White at The Sony Centre in Toronto & it was amazing.

Jack White & his band rocked out so hard. From a styling perspective the band rocked the monochromatic look; which also matched the stage & lighting.

Monochromatic colours are all the colours of a single hue. Dressing in monochromatic style makes you look taller, leaner, and chic!

Happy Weekend!

{Recipe WIN} Miso-Maple Sweet Potato Tacos

My goal right now is healthy eating, so I have been trying my best to cook more, try new recipes, and experiment with foods that I may not be accustomed to eating. You can check out all my foodcandy on Pinterest, here. I get all my recipes to try from either good friends or pinterest. The odd time I will try recipes from my grandmother's cookbooks too!

I had to share tonights recipe - it was super easy to make and absolutely delicious!!! You can find the recipe, here. I amended the recipe a little bit, I added cabbage as a topping, couldn't find miso paste so just omitted that, I added 3 tblsp. of maple syrup and 3 tbsp. of rice wine vinegar to make up for the lack of miso paste, and instead of just avocados I used guacamole that I had made.

My two passions seem to be fashion & food. My favourite 'F' words!

{Thanksgiving} It's harvest time...

With Thanksgiving just around the corner I felt inspired to design a custom lakeside table for our guests this upcoming weekend at Whiskey Pines. I love rustic charm - so I added elements that lead to this look - vintage wine glasses & plates, freshly cut wooden disks, fallen leaves around the cottage & pine cones, old beer bottles & vintage bottles, and lace to finish it all off!

I don't like holiday meals to feel the same as every other meal. I like them to feel special. I see it as a well designed and styled life is just as important as your wardrobe & closet!

Here are a few links to the recipes I plan on making for the holidays:

Appetizer: Hot Caprese Dip

Another Appetizer: Sweet & Sour Turkey Meatballs

Sweets for the kiddies: Halloween Mummy Cookies

Some sweets for the adults: Pumpkin Ginger Cupcakes

I leave the rest of the cooking up to the famjam - as I feel they are the professionals!

What are you cooking for the holiday? Share some recipes!

{The Emmys} My worst dressed rant...

This dress does absolutely nothing for her figure! She would have been better off in a dress that showed off her shape more & drew the eye up.

The neckline plunges a little too low for her age - making her chest look a bit saggy. The detailing is drawing attention to her hips; causing them to look larger then they are.Ok, Heidi - I know you just had a baby - but leave something to the imagination! Too much leg, cleavage, etc. She could have worn a bathing suit to the Emmys and it would have the same effect as this dress.Tan lines? This is a huge no-no! Especially at an event like the Emmys. Get tan lines fixed before a major event by going for a spray tan - or here's a thought - wear a strapless bather!I know we all can't be perfect - I get that - but the arm pit cleavage is a bit out of hand. Had she chose a different dress - she would have looked thinner, her arm pit & chest wouldn't be getting chopped in half and people would looked at her as a whole instead of focussing on this imperfection. Thank you for listening to my WORST dressed rant. I chose to only focus on 5 because frankly the amount of money these celebrities pay for stylists, etc. there really is no excuse for terrible fashion crimes like the ones noted above.

{Emmy's Recap} Best Dressed

After reviewing the looks from the Emmy's I quicly discovered that there were a lot more worst dressed then best dressed. I decided just to post the best - because frankly - the worst were just - well the worst! Some of the worst dressed showed a little too much leg, were not dressed for their age, had tan-lines, and basically looked like hot messes. Ok, maybe I'll blog about those on Tuesday.

My best dressed bar far were:

  1. Ginnifer Goodwin
  2. Ariel Winter
  3. Nicole Kidman
  4. Sofia Vergara
  5. Leslie Mann
  6. Jeannie Mai
  7. Hayden Panettiere

All the best dressed women listed above looked classic & chose dresses perfect for their body & shape! The colours, detailing, and over-all look including make-up & accessories were spot on.

Best dressed trends: pattern, sparkle, lace, & draping.
