The Perfect Up-Do's

I can't even count the amount of times I have rocked horrific up-do's. I look back at pictures and I can't stop laughing. At the time, I thought they were chic, timeless, and super on trend. Boy, was I wrong. I think that happens with everything though; fashion, hair, + beauty change and evolve that it makes the pictures you look back on seem out of date. What is cool now, isn't always cool a few years down the road!

Lately, the trend for weddings or events is very simple hair - usually left down, natural, and not fussed with. What happened to getting a really great up-do? I think if you do the proper research and find a style that works with your dress, face shape, and hair - an up-do can look really nice instead of leaving your locks free. I think the key to a good up-do is a confident hair stylist, do your research (so don't just pick out an up-do from a magazine or ancient hair book from the salon you just walked into for the appointment), leave your hair un-washed so that it is easier to manage, and lots of moveable hairspray.

Up-do's don't need to include 100 bobbi pins anymore. They can be simple pony-tails, braids, or top-knots.

For your wedding are you wearing your hair up or down? What are your bridesmaids doing?

Spring is in the air...

Mixing patterns is still HOT for Spring. Especially mixed with gold accessories!

Denim and a crisp white shirt never goes out of style + is the perfect Spring wardrobe.

Floral skirts are all the rage + especially worn short!

Denim cut-offs are a wardrobe staple. Bring on the thicker belt + pair with a plain T with denim jacket for a wardrobe win!You can never go wrong with a print Spring dress. Layer with a light cardie and your favourite pair of sunnies for a great overall look.

The Short Suit

With the sun shining brightly and Spring hopefully around the corner - get out to the mall and pick up a short suit. A must have closet addition for Spring! This suit is the ultra-feminine take on a menswear inspired look. It is chic enough for most offices (just watch your length of shorts - take it closer to the knee!) and still whoa enough for a night out. There is just something inherently charming about shorts suit.

The Best Brazilian Bikinis

Bikini shopping seems to be the type of shopping that most women hate. Trying on bikinis when your skin is pasty and hasn't seen the sun in months - is the absolute worst! I've been on the hunt lately for the perfect honeymoon bikini's and of course a few for Vegas for my bachelorette party. I'm really into the brazilin cut bikinis and the above are my favourites that I have found so far. The minimal coverage for your bottom makes the bather more exotic and sexy for the perfect honeymoon with your new husband!

Cole + Parker - Socks that start businesses

A few weeks ago, I had the amazing opportunity to style the Cole + Parker photoshoot. The entire experience was unreal - Diana and Jeff - the creative heads behind Cole + Parker brought together the best, most entrepreneural group they could. We all had such a fun day - made amazing connections - and took unreal photos of their socks that start businesses. To see the rest of the pics from the shoot - head over to www.facebook.com/stylebylucurran

These socks are the real deal! They would look amazing with a suit to amplify your ball'in status, the right pop of colour for that night out on the town, or to jazz up your track pant party at home. Men or women these socks are for you. Socks are the new accessory! Jump on board friendships!

What do I mean when I say these socks start businesses? Well, the gist is that 20% of proceeds from Cole + Parker socks are loaned to entrepreneurs in the developing world through Kiva thus creating a sustainable loop where one pair of socks starts multiple start ups.

If you haven’t heard of Kiva – it is the largest microfinance organization in the world having process over 400 million dollars of loans to entrepreneurs. Each loan is repaid with a 98% success rate and then loaned out to another entrepreneur (and on, and on and on).

Cole + Parker will be on Dragon's Den April 3rd - but in order to get there they need to sell $20K worth of socks, you can help them reach their goal here:   http://www.indiegogo.com/projects/cole-and-parker-socks-that-start-businesses/x/2657503

Thanks again to the Cole + Parker team for this unreal opportunity! Can't wait until the next one!
